On June 18 I will overnight in St. Jean in the French Pyrennees mountains. I am spending my first night in a hotel thinking that I will need a good night sleep before heading out. While I say a good night sleep the only room I could find at the chosen hotel has two SINGLE beds for this 6’-5” 195 lb man. Dee suggested I push them together and sleep diagonally. I good thought.
A small concern is that my first day 15 miles (not a great distance) but there is a 4300 foot elevation rise which will add some difficulty. There is an alternative route to avoid the elevation rise but the books say that the higher route has magnificent views of the mountains. Weather permitting, guess which one this old boy is taking. You guessed correctly.
Along the route/path there are so many small villages of 20+ residents. The experience of going through these small villages and even the larger cities is going to be wonderful. On my third day I go through Pamplona.
I’ll be letting you know where I am throughout my travels. Stay tuned
