As usual we left at 5:30 am to try to maximize the cool of the day. It’s really starting to get hot during the afternoon but today was a shorter day at only about 12 miles.

Leon weather but where we are it will be similar

We had another reason for leaving early; we wanted to get Rick to a hospital in a major city. Rick and I went to a nice hospital and they examined his feet for over 2 hours. They did ultrasound of his legs and feet as they thought blood was not circulating to them. Next they did several blood tests to check for infection. His infection is gone. They wanted him to spend 3 days in Leon to rest his feet. He pressed them only to learn that the real concern was pain. Last evening he decided to walk on and we did about 15-16 today.
Leon has a beautiful old section while the rest is ugly. Going in and coming out was very industrial. The old section is magnificent. The cathedral was built in 1250 ad and is gorgeous. The stain glass windows are beautiful and extremely plentiful. Rick and I went to 6pm mass but no pilgrim blessing.

After mass the five of us went to the central plaza for dinner. I told Dee that I thought of her since it was so so European being outdoors with people enjoying their dinners and drinks. For after dinner I ordered a Manhatten which they had no idea how to make. We had an American join us who teaches spanish and she explained the recipe to the waiter. He left and came back with a bottle of Jack Danials and vermouth. I taught him how to make one at our table.

Sorry I didn’t blog yesterday. I was so tired I fell asleep in the hospital waiting room and came back after dinner to call Dee and sleep.

We have travelled about 290 miles now as of entering Leon.
