No pictures today. Sorry my phone did not charge last night

We left the albergue this morning at 5:15. we’re concerned about heat so we started in the dark. The temperature was probably 60 or so and we had a delightful tailwind. It did not get hot and it was a nice 16 mile hike. As we left town there’s a very large hill maybe 300 meters high. I’m really amazed at my stamina now.

My lower leg is still hurting but hiking is comfortable, if that makes any sense. The owner of this albergue knows a pharmacist who makes a cream that is supposed to help so I’m heading there when they open at 4:30. Towns shutdown from about 2-4:30 and you can’t get anything except food since restaurants open about 2 then close until 7 pm. What a system.

It just started storming and if it rains will be the first real rain to date except for a little misting and a quick shower about a week ago.

Tonight we have us four guys and four Koreans in a room in four bunk beds. i am still in love with my Bose Sleepbuds. I hear no snoring at all.

The Meseta is extremely flat so my innkeeper diagnosed tendonitis is helped. Trails are still very rocky which stresses it.

Today I started hiking with David and Trevor. They are fast hikers so as I was climbing the hill I purposely slowed down for my leg. At the top was Rick (priest) and Donna. We hike the same slower speed. After some time I was hiking with Rick and Donna was well behind us. Rick asked about how I doing with respect to processing Rod’s death. I told him that I’m still working on it but it will come to a head at the cross along the path in the future. We chatted for a while until we stopped for a moment to let Donna catch up. I asked her if we were going too fast and she said no but that she was letting us talk. Wow

Laundry day again today. 3€ for the innkeeper to was and dry. I love laundry day and look forward to it.

Well, I expect that I’ve bored you enough for today assuming you read this far.

Just thought of one more thing. We ate at a nice restaurant last evening and ate from the Peregrino menu. We picked up a young girl hiking by herself and sitting alone at the restaurant. She just started hiking in Burgos and is from Netherlands. We had a good three course meal two bottles of wine for 12€ each. It’s so nice meeting people. We were each alone until we formed our community so we know what its like.

Pictures will begin again tomorrow, I promise.
