We left Santo Domingo at 7 am this morning. unfortunately it was a day that was really uneventful with few exception. Going into Santo Domingo fro the east the landscape was so full of grape vineyards. It is Rioja district. when we left Sto. Domingo there were no more vineyards. We are much flatter with mountains in the distance. When we left Sto. Domingo it was about 48 degrees. Now its low 80’s.

Pretty flat with mountains in the distance

When we stopped for a beer as we entered town our friend Pilar (pee-lar) found us and we discovered that we won’t see her again. She’s now ahead of us by two towns and heading home to Barcelona in a couple of days. She will be missed greatly. She became a good friend.

The hostal tonight is 20 beds in our room so I’m so pleased that my Bose sleep buds are back working. We have a very cold pool that I soaked my feet in.

Imagine 20 snoring men and women in here

Today the blister is so much better but now I have developed a large hard bump on the top of big toe. Good news is no pain. It’s always something.

It’s laundry day. I’m sitting here outside commando so I could get all underpants laundered. 3.5€ for them to wash and 3.5 € to dry. Two of us went together. I have to admit that i had an offensive odor as we hiked in today. it was only about 12-13 mile day and we are about 144 miles hiked in 10 days.

here are a few pictures from today:

Always one of my favorite shots coming into a village
