What a day. Yesterday we learned that the Camino is closed for the next two stages due to fires. Friends are now heading to the Ti (tourist information) to learn whether we catch a bus or train. this is a big bummer for us. More on this tomorrow. We left the Albergue this morning about 6 am when we heard the path to Pamplona was closed and the Guardia Civil had it blocked but they were not there and we hiked 21 km (13 miles). It was a much easier hike today.
Here’s the best news. we went to the post office and I shipped about 2.8 kg to Santiago so my pack just became much lighter. After 3 days I think i know what I need and what I don’t. my screwup was shipping my new trail runners while my old ones are wearing down. Much of the Camino is very rough and not friendly to shoes.
Sorry Dee but we didn’t get breakfast until noon. The only restaurant we passed is closed on Tuesday. I was so hungry I ate my nuts about 10am. They were good but not filling.
We are in the walled old city section of Pamplona. It’s really beautiful. Running of bulls is the first week of July.
