I wish you a wonderful hike, pleasant weather, many new friends, no blisters, great memories and quiet nights at the refugios. I am really looking forward to following your adventure and making the trek vicariously through your blog. You’ll be a great pilgrim!
Greg, our sincere condolences to you and Dee and Family. Trek on Buddy and we will be watching your blog.
Be safe
Be safe
Dear Friend, I’m traveling vicariously through you. Let the adventure begin…safely.
May the trip be an opportunity for spiritual growth as well as an opportunity to make new friends. Know that I will pray for you each day and look forward to your return.
Thanks Dick. I need to blog today but the Albergue where I am staying has miserable internet. I will say that it was a tough day in the mountains.
Every evening we sit with dee and follow your diary. It’s like an adventure story with chapters and we’re anticipating “what’s going to happen next?” Thank you for sharing your pictures and your thoughts. It helps me digitally take the journey that I would never have the courage to actually do.
Great to hear from you….He is with you, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you
We are thinking of you and praying for you. We are so sorry about your brother.
Looks like you are doing great keep going and have a great time.
Congrats on surviving the first and probably most grueling day! And welcome to Spain!
HAPPY FOURTH TO YOU AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS
MAY THE GOOD LORD BE WITH YOU.
ED
Glad to hear that you are doing well…sleeping arrangements look adequate and clean….keep putting one foot in front of the other
Thus far your reported meals aren’t hitting it out of the park per your reports. Thankfully it’s only day two & your hunger isn’t enough to make the sheep nervous:-)
Now that is funny
Greg
Sorry to hear that the fires have effected part of your trip. Read about the fires in the news, not good! Hopefully you will be able to bus around them and continue on with your track.
Keep the faith God is with you all.
Ed
Sounds like everything is going well are you running into any people who share your Christian faith…..
Yes and no. A lot of catholic hikers. No one really talks religion that I’m aware
Too bad….what’s a pilgrimage without Christ walking with you and He is…..glad you are doing well and your feet are holding up….Psalms 91
Greg not sure you have heard the good news….the reds are only 18 games out of first place…by the time you get back they will be 30 lol and did you hear that Trump has decided to greet you on your last stop…,Let’s make Spain great again
Sorry to hear about the smoke. Some new issue had to pop up to replace COVID-19.
But the questions all of your millions of followers want to know – (1) how loud are the snorers at the alburques, and (2) how hot has it been? Finally, it is nice to see you smiling in the photos!
In my top 2 concerns was snoring. Several months before leaving I bought Bose Sleep buds. God’s gift to hostel users. I have not heard anyone snoring to date while using them but when I take them out in the morning it is a different story.
Greg, your pictures and blog are fantastic, can’t wait to hear your stories. A life time trip you will never forget! Keep trekking !
This truly has been an experience I’ll never forget. I’m glad you’re following me on the blog. Tonight we’re in Logrono and heading to the square soon as we’ve heard there’s people singing or something like that.
Hi Greg! Thanks for sharing the adventure and photos. Looks like a great experience. You’ve inspired me to watch The Way tonight! Be safe!
As we hike we sometimes talk about a scene in the movie and what we’re seeing at the time. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience for me. Glad you’re reading. I don’t get many comments so I don’t know who is following.
I’m so glad (and envious) to hear that you are enjoying your once in a lifetime experience. I knew that you would make friends but it nice to see how international your crew is. I wonder how many folks will be inspired enough by your adventure to walk their own Camino.
Next week starts 90+ in the Meseta plains for 10 days. It’s in the 50’s tonight and upper 40’s in morning tomorrow. It’s about to get hot.
Your blog with pics & commentary is wonderful! Thanks for being intentional with daily updates; feels like you’re taking us with you.
Hi Greg, I just figured out I could comment on here, lol! It looks like you’re doing great, meeting some interesting people and having fun. The scenery is beautiful! It’s been fun following along, thanks for sharing on your blog!
Terri, I’m so glad you’re following me. If you think of it send the link to my algebra friend Cheryl. We finished 130 miles of 500 today. It’s an experience of a lifetime. Thanks for the comments as I don’t get many and it really brightens my day. Greg
I’m impressed! I walk about three miles a day and that’s plenty for me! I can’t imagine walking 15 miles day after day!
I sent Cheryl the link here. I’m sure she’ll follow along too.
Lol!! It is now July 3, and I, too, just discovered that I can reply here as well as read comments from others!🤪
I’m glad I’m not the only one new to blog reading!
Greg, I have so much respect and admiration for you along this journey. Its been a joy having Dee giving us updates each day. It’s something that I could only dream of doing, but when I see the feet with the blisters it makes be realize that it will only be a journey that I’ll experience by following your blog. I look forward to hearing about the rest of your pilgrimage.
Hey Greg it’s your fellow flunky from algebra class. I laughed when Terri said you mentioned it on your reply to her. I am so proud of you for undertaking such an adventure. I am 100% supporting you for my couch 🤣😂 Have a wonderful time keep posting.
I’m looking forward to seeing you and all our classmates in October. I’m so glad you are watching me from your couch.
Greg, it looks like you are having a once in a lifetime experience. Your blog and pictures are awesome. You may be the oldest, but you look like you are the tallest. Safe journeys and prayers for you.
My Dear Husband! Loving this journey for you & Thank You for allowing us to go with you in spirit & through your pictures! A thought to meditate upon as you walk this pilgrimage: Psalm 108:4 For Great is Your Love, Higher than the heavens;Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. We Worship The God Who stands above us & apart from us, Yet Calls Us To Know Him, Through Belief in His Son, Our Savior & Lord, Jesus Christ. Much Love & Prayers To You, My Love.
Greg, glad you are doing well, enjoy the updates, been saying a prayer for you. Keep walking

I liked the pics of the different trail surfaces you encountered in one day – from what looks like desert to a thick forest. Variety is the spice of life!
Tomorrow I hike to Lake Blanch – the prettiest lake in Utah (in my opinion). About 8 miles out and back and 2,700 ft. But nothing compared to the Camino!
Another great post Greg. Loving the pics and relationships you are building on the trek.
Temps appear cooler in Spain than here in Utah. I started a hike at 0730 this morning at a bit over 6000 ft. It was 65 degrees. When we finished at about 1400, it was 82 degrees.
And watch what you say about Cathy’s home state of North Dakota. You don’t want her to get angry with you!
Your pictures and comments are great looks like you are doing fine and loving it! I am sure your brother is with you along the way. Keep walking and have faith.
God Bless you and all your fellow hikers.
Ed
Well fireworks are going off in Columbus tonight….We live in a great country…have so enjoyed following your walk…yes interesting about the silos….I wonder when they harvest where do they take the grain….Cindy said we should go back to Paris with you and Dee….hard to believe your not half way but enjoy every step
Through your photos and words, you’re an engaging storyteller and a valuable teacher. From you I’ve learned geography, culture, patience, and absolute faith in God. I truly anticipate each evening’s lessons. Thank you, Greg.
Greg, The family and I are enjoying the trip reports and photos. Grant has started Grad school and Molly just finished.
Continued good wishes and favorable weather for your journey.
I hope you and the Meseta get along well. Other than blisters and sore muscles, I think this would be the biggest challenge of the Camino. But with 2 weeks of trail behind you, I’m sure you are well prepared.
Seems like a good time for this Irish blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Greg when you get this it will probably by July 4th! Have a great 4th even though you are not home! Stay safe and keep trekking! Your blog is the best thing of the day!

Happy Independence Day!
We love keeping up with you. Sounds like a great experience!
Dear Friend, I’m thankful you’ve found Fr. Rick & Donna. Appears you’ve made new friends for life. This July 4th I’m alone with Christophe & family all sick now with Covid. Question- are there any precautions within the hostels? My guess is no.
There’s no precautions. The only place a mask is required is the pharmacy. Donna just got over Covid about a week ago.
I love the stories of the Priests and Nuns who watch and pray over you. It renews my faith reading this. True honest concern for you and your fellow pilgrims. I miss that true trust you are experiencing with the Priests. Your faith has to be nourished to a new level from your experience. We are finally getting some rain back home here, the hot weather has dried up Mother Earth and she needs a well deserved drink! God has welcomed a much needed rain for our dry soil. Take care of yourself and keep trekking Greg!
