I really don’t have words nor do photos give justice to what we saw and experienced today at Perito Moreno glacier about 50 miles from El Calafate (cal-ah-fah-tay). First a few tidbits. 70% of the glaciers are in Chile and 30% in Argentina. There are about 356 glaciers in this national park. This area is the third largest glacier area in the world surpassed only by Arctic and Antarctic. The one we visited is balance (in equilibrium) whereas it moves 6 feet per day into the water and 6 feet is added at the top. It has fluctuated over the years but for the past several years it is balanced. It snows on the glacier 300 days per year. If a snowflake falls on the top it takes 15-20 years to reach the end where it calves into the lake.

Now for the good stuff:

THose are people on the glacier where the blue arrow is pointing. The glacier is 200 feet tall here. We are on the boat

Tomorrow we fly from El Calafate to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina in the morning then off on our tour.

Going to Ushuaia

I believe that this is at Beagle Channel Island where we are taking a boat out to for penguins and sea lions.

Enough for today. I hope you enjoyed seeing what we saw today. We are starting our 4th week and ready to come home but also so excited to go to Ushuaia tomorrow for a couple of days. We get home on Sunday.

Love to all, Dee and Pop
