I knew today would be a long day and it didn’t disappoint in that regard. We started at 6:00 and walked 24 miles according to my phone walking measurement. I believe it. When we left we walked uphill for about 1 1/2 hours but the best was when we got to a lookout point and the sun was rising. We were there at the exact right moment. Five minutes either way and no sunrise.
The photo doesn’t capture what we experienced. I walked again with Kara, Katherina and Lucy. Kata was much better until about 1+ hours away then she was hurting badly in knees and ankles. Lucy is from Czech Republic and an OB/ GYN.
The beauty of where we walked was so wonderful. We walked a long time along a river and I simply wanted to sit and stare at my surroundings to take it in but we couldn’t.
Here’s a photo of us leaving taken by a friend of ours.
Above is a monastery we stopped across from for coffee and toast.
This refrigerator was outside a house giving drinks.
Now for another wonderful thing, I shipped my bag so I didn’t have to carry it at all. Best 18€ spent in a long time.
Tomorrow we catch a boat to take us about 30 miles to Padron. From there I will find a hostel to stay so I have a short walk to Santiago on Thursday. Thursday I catch a train to Madrid and spend the night coming home Friday.
More tomorrow, Pop
