Last evening I made a special reconnaissance walk to find the ferry boat that would take me to Spain across the Mino River. I followed the map the hostel gave me and found it. I had a 7:30 am reservation and of course got there early. I had my ticket on my phone. At 7:30 I showed my ticket to the boat guy and he said wrong place. I had a ticket on a boat about 1 1/2 miles away. After some talking I bought a ticket from him and rode the second trip.

Here’s a picture of the ferry and captain. One way ticket €6. A deal even though mine turned out to be €12.

As much as I have not liked the coastal like I expected, today was so different. I really enjoyed walking the beautiful Spain coastline. If I owned a house overlooking the ocean I would weigh 300 pounds and be an alcoholic as I would spend my days drinking and looking out to the ocean. Here’s why.

Tonight I am in a private room with shared bathroom. So excited. I’ve had my shower and am relaxing now.

A couple of quick observations after being in Spain 5 weeks. First, they observe crosswalks to a fault. Second, I have not seen one U-Store building. Third, I have counted 3 pickup trucks total. Finally, just as in the USA, there are dialects of Spanish. Barcelona has heavy French influence, the Basques are way different and now In Galicia they have their own and I have difficulty understanding them.
I walked 14.7 miles today. I drink several liters of water and even got a cafe to refill for me. It’s in the 80’s but very humid and the sun was really hot today.

I did some hand washing yesterday afternoon. I washed then hung on a line. It didn’t dry and a woman watched me checking on dryness told me that they have a dryer. So I dried in it. The reason I mention this is that I wanted to show you where I hand washed my clothes.

Update on my lovely wife, she was to train to Ronda yesterday and learned her train got canceled. She met some ladies and they bused instead. She is doing marvelous on her own in Spain. I miss her.
