We flew into Ushuaia this morning and what a delightful town it is. We had several hours to walk in town and to eat lunch at a really nice little restaurant where the waitress spoke no English so I could use my Spanish to the degree that we communicated. I so enjoyed that. We then took a boat out into the Beagle Channel for an about 3 hour cruise between Chile and Argentina. We did not really see any penguins except for one that a sea lion had killed and was throwing it around on a cormorant/sea lion island. We saw a lot of albatrosses flying along the water which was fascinating to us.

We are at the southernmost place on earth according to the chamber of commerce

Ushuaia, what a quaint little town

We got off the ship and Dee lasted five minutes and I lasted ten minutes. It was sleeting and there wasn’t anything to really see so why be away from the comforts of the ship?

Supper tonight. Called seafood disco (dees-co) because cooked in this pan. It was like paella and we brought leftovers to our room for lunch tomorrow. We have developed a bad habit of drinking one bottle of wine at supper.

Beautiful mountains here

Tomorrow, Wednesday we go to Tierra del Fuego National park then on a boat excursion to the penguin island community. Half of the group opted out the national park because they are worn out. It’s been quite a trip but we have seen some magnificent places and done great things.

Love to all, Dee and Pop
