We left BA yesterday on a flight to Montevideo. What would a day be without some significant issue? When we left the hotel in BA we left a bag of warmer clothes that we will need for the last two weeks of the trip into Patagonia and very south Argentina. Dee had put a folder in the bag that we didn’t think we would need. When we got to the airport the ticket agent asked for our vaccination cards before we could get our boarding passes. They were at the hotel. Our brains are scrambling to figure out a solution when I asked her if she had taken a photo of them just as we do with our passports in case they get lost. She looked in her photos and voila there is a photo of the two cards. Thank you Jesus once again. I know that we are relying on you a lot and you have been with us and faithful to our needs the entire time.
Here is what 4 weeks of luggage looks like. Dee is doing laundry this morning.
Of course when we arrived the cash machine was broken but there were two and I got some cash. From there we picked up our rental car and headed to our beach house. We are about two blocks away and there is no beach here but there is nearby. It is drop dead gorgeous though and after breakfast we are going to walk. Today is a do nothing day which we certainly deserve.
Last night we stopped by a local grocery and picked up a few things. They had no coffee but had bags upon bags of Yerba leaves that locals put in a mate (ma-tay) cup and let them steep and drink. We got did get some wine for our first night.
Supper was great and we enjoyed our first hamburger since leaving the states. Sorry Father Rick, I did not take a picture for you and aunt Mary. The waitress practiced her English and I practiced Spanish.
This morning it was off to the big supermercado to get groceries. Before we left the states I remembered from Spain that grocery stores don’t provide bags and you need to take bags with you similar to Aldi in the states. We brought Kroger bags so we could bag. It is so much fun learning and observing different cultures and practices. The Uraguay drivers are so much more polite than BA drivers and really safer with fewer motorbikes weaving between cars and driving between them on the road.
That’s all for today. We are one week in with three more to go. It’s been a wonderful vacation and experience.
