It was a wonderful and bad day at the same time today. The walk was wonderful with nice paths and beautiful sights. Even the new pilgrims that just started were less bothersome than normal.
Here’s the best, on the way in I saw a massage table set up in a park along the trail. I asked the girl what it would cost and how long to do calves. She said it is a donativo and would take 20-25 minutes. I laid on her table while she did ”rakish” (sp) massage on my calves and feet. Heaven. i was almost asleep when she finished.
After the massage we went to another medical center and my friend Father Rick is heading to University Hospital via taxi in Santiago. We won’t finish together tomorrow but he plans to greet us at the entrance arch if he can. His plans are to stay in Santiago for up to about a week then taxi back here to finish then and receive his compostelo certificate. Bummer
I am now 12 miles from completion. I have a lot of thoughts as I begin this last leg. I am walking in with Kara and Amy. Kara is carrying a lot of grief and needs to let it out. I told her that I can be with her if she wants to let it out in Santiago and that may very well happen.
Rick took a picture of me getting a massage but didn’t send it to me yet. When I get it I’ll share.
Here’s a couple of pictures from today:
That’s all folks for today. Buen camino
