A nice quiet and for some reason less crowded day. No really big highlights today like there were yesterday.
I walked with Rick a lot but also two women. We knew one from about a week ago but just met the other. I’m always interested in learning other peoples story of why they are here doing this for so long. I believe we’re all walking for a reason but some won’t disclose, which is their prerogative. One lady came after losing father to a home accident. She brought a rock to place at Cruz de Ferro as I did. She couldn’t do it but hopes she can place it in Santiago. I understand this and told her so. The other lady has family issues she is dealing with. I would like to walk with them again to be those caring ears.
This is an horrario which we see mostly for decoration. Its a corn crib which is decorative and can have wooden or brick on the side. They are in town and on small farms.
This was a highlight of the day today as we were about to enter town.
We had a really good and late lunch of a hamburger. That was my first since leaving USA five weeks ago. By supper at 8 pm I wasn’t that hungry so I got sopa pescado (seafood soup). Rick got salad and cheese plate. I only mention the cheese because the center cheese is called ”breast cheese” here.
That’s all I have for you today. we are 40 km (24 miles) from Santiago and two more walking days. It seems so unreal.
I mentioned to Rick that I spend about 80-90% of my walking time looking down so I don’t fall. The paths are so much nicer here in Galicia that I probably look around more.
