We left Puenta la Reina earlyto hike to Estella. The book gave conflicting description of the hike and both descriptions were true. In one place it said easy gentle rolling terrain then said steep inclines. Yes to both. We again saw considerable burned land and crops but no fire or smoke.
I thought a lot about my brother today. For the most part they were very happy thoughts about our good days together.
I really enjoyed our hike through small villages. one village had the original wall and road built by the Romans (their slaves).
We came across an olive grove with a young girl giving pilgrims fresh fruit for a donation. I had the best fresh cut pineapple.
Next to the fruit stand was this sign telling us how many kilometers to Santiago. About 420 miles left.
We are in the Albergue Agora tonight. That last ”room” with the flip flops is mine. It’s a nice room with comfortable bed where I’m writing this blog. The shower was delightful after my hike.
I love looking out into the distance at these little villages.
It was a very humbling day for me. We came across several people who were really struggling on their pilgrimage. Firstt there was an older woman with too many bags and terrible looking boots struggling to hike. Then we passed a young teenager who couldn’t walk by himself but rather had a man and woman on either side holding him upright.
